Immigration Navigation and Document Assistance for African and Caribbean Families
GABA Access is your trusted connection to immigration navigation, consular services, and documentation support. We prioritize low income and underserved African and Caribbean families who face the greatest barriers to accessing these services. We partner directly with embassies, consulates, and legal aid providers to bring critical navigation and document assistance closer to the communities that need it most across Michigan. Access should not depend on where you live or what you earn.
The Problem
African and Caribbean immigrants in Michigan navigate some of the most complex systems in the country. Most do it alone.
Passport renewals. Visa documentation. National identification. Know your rights education. These are not small inconveniences. They are the difference between stability and crisis, between staying and being forced to leave. For a community that has built businesses, raised families, and contributed billions to Michigan's economy, the infrastructure to support them through these moments has never existed.
Since our founding, GABA has served almost 1,000 African families across Michigan. They did not find us through a government program or a public agency. They found us because someone they trusted told them GABA would show up. That trust is the infrastructure this community has been building for over a decade and it is the infrastructure no external institution can manufacture.
GABA Access exists because the community should not have to navigate alone. With 500 registered members, partnerships across Michigan, and a decade of earned trust, we are the organization positioned to close this gap. Not from the outside looking in, but as a permanent part of the community itself.

Community education sessions on immigration rights, legal protections, and what to do when your rights are at risk. Knowledge is the first form of protection.

For matters requiring legal representation, we connect community members to vetted immigration attorneys and legal aid organizations in our partner network.
Financial Access
Many families in our community manage their finances without a banking relationship, credit history, or connection to the capital tools that build lasting stability. We connect community members to banks, savings programs, credit building resources, and financial coaching so that economic independence becomes a real and reachable goal.
Workforce and Business Connections
Our community is ready to work and ready to build. We connect individuals to no cost technology training, industry recognized certifications, career coaching, and employer networks that open doors to high growth careers. For entrepreneurs, we provide direct connections to small business resources, technical assistance, and the networks that help businesses grow beyond their first year.
